When you read the name of this company the first thing that comes in to mind might be: hmmm, again another travel or tour agency… This quick feeling is of course justified, because after some research at the Ministry of Tourism and the Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) an amount of 1,700 registered travel and tour agencies were found in Kenya.
Still Helping Hands Tours & Safaris (HHT&S) is different than the others and can be described as a unique travel agency. The vision of HHT&S is not only to let clients explore the world, but also to touch lives. This means touching the lives of the client and also of local communities and the travel destinations.
Because of globalization and the emergence of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), the demand for insight in the development of the third world increases enormously. Tourists are not only interested anymore in the nice beaches and the impressive elephants and lions, they want to see if and how the development projects are working out and contribute. We are the perfect mediator between these so called social tourists and the different developing projects in Kenya. We do all this with our sister companies CSG and Matibabu Foundation. Part of the proceedings from HHTS go to supporting the social activities in these two Non Governmental Organizations.

Helping Hands Tours & Safaris Ltd (HHT&S) is a very interesting company in this industry. HHT&S is a Tour Company that facilitates all travel opportunities and will give unforgettable memories. It is run by young passionate travel professionals with a lot of experience in trade, organising and leading groups and individuals to various destinations.
HHT&S started out a few years ago in 2003, when most of the committed staff was involved in community development activities. Once in a while we would get donations from well-wishers to help in the growth of the few projects that were running. The donors wanted to come and see for themselves exactly what was going on at the ground of these projects. This called upon the present HHT&S staff to arrange a tour for the 11 doctors, who came for a medical camp cum tour. It soon dawned on us that it was possible to kill two birds with one stone. The first business description was born: 'Arranging tours that will immerse people in local communities and benefit them, the local communities and destinations.'
The community projects that run in several parts of Kenya, such as Kibera (Nairobi) and Kisumu and Ugenya (West-Kenya), fall under the foundations Community Support Group (CSG) and Matibabu Foundation. HHT&S is developed from and thus closely linked to these foundations, which makes these organisations interdependent of each other.
This interdependence is the uniqueness and is at the same time the strength of the organisation. HHT&S has grown from a support service for the other organisations to a professional Tour Company. Because of this interesting history of HHT&S unique packages are presented to the tourists.
